Sealy High School athletes were honored for their achievements during the athletic awards banquet at the Thomas E. Golson Auditorium last Wednesday morning, May 26.

Sealy High School alumnus Garrett Redden earned second-team All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference honors after his freshman season for the Cloud County Community College Thunderbirds. Redden appeared in 51 games, where he started all but one, and finished with a .357 batting average.

Sealy High School and Texas A&M alumnus Ricky Seals-Jones signed a free-agent contract with the Washington Football Team May 25. Seals-Jones spent two years in Arizona and one year each in Cleveland and Kansas City where he amassed 60 catches for 773 yards and eight touchdowns. Seals-Jones enters his age-26 season with the Washington Football Team that finished 7-9 and first place in the NFC East last year. WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM

Wharton County Junior College athletes earned a host of All-Conference and All-Region honors after the spring seasons came to a conclusion. Bellville High School alumnus Kevin Black was one of five second-team all-conference selections and one of seven who earned Region XIV All-Academic Team honors for the baseball team.

Sealy High School senior distance runner Madison Manak signed her National Letter of Intent to run for the Jacksonville Junior College Jaguars during a ceremony last Wednesday, May 26. Head cross country coach and assistant track coach Anthony Branch, whose coaching career started in Jacksonville, always mentions how far Manak has come in her four years of high school.

The Texas Girls Coaches Association recently announced award winners for the 2020-2021 school year and two Sealy High School coaches were among the honorees. Danielle Eschenburg was named the cross country sub-varsity coach of the year and Caroline Owen was tabbed as the basketball middle school coach of the year.

The Sealy Lady Tiger softball squad that finished third in District 24-4A and was the laststanding representative in the third round of the players, landed 10 all-district honors. Two earned superlative awards, three were named to the firstteam all-district, two earned second-team alldistrict selections and three were named all-district honorable mentions.
