Members of the Sealy Tiger football team wrapped up 7-on-7 action in the Taylor High School passing league last week and enter the final phase of their offseason with only a month to go before two-a-days start.

At the end of a long workday last Monday, Brackston Nutt and his son Everett stopped by the office and delivered a token of appreciation that only served as about the millionth reminder of how great this community is.

Sunday, July 4, Major League Baseball announced the All-Star selections that will participate in the Midsummer Classic in Colorado July 13 and four Houston Astros were among the honorees. Ryan Pressly, Carlos Correa and Michael Brantley will join Jose Altuve, who tied a franchise record after he earned a seventh All-Star nod.

Brazos High School rising senior Makinzy Kneip recently announced her verbal commitment to play softball for the Southwestern Assemblies of God University Lions in Waxahachie. She will join her sister Maddie, a member of Brazos’ Class of 2021, who will run cross country for SAGU this fall.

The Brazos ISD Board of Trustees formally offered the Superintendent contract to Scott Rogers during its June 17 regular meeting at the Brazos ISD Administration Building. Rogers was named the lone finalist at the May 26 regular meeting.

Austin County 4-H Quiz Bowl Teams advanced from District 11 competition and competed in the State 4-H Roundup Livestock Quiz Bowl contest June 7-10 at Texas A&M. Emma Eckelberg, Brooke Diezi, Stewart Poffenberger and Morgan Hesters represented Austin County and rocked the contest to earn the title of State Champion Team.

As the football regular season inches closer, the Katy 7-on-7 league that members of the Sealy Tigers have been participating in enters the final week of exhibition play. Last week, Sealy won both of its games over Mayde Creek and Jordan.

Although the Houston Astros dropped its series-opening game against Baltimore at home to begin this week, they entered play on Tuesday tied with only the Boston Red Sox for the best record in the American League at 48-31.
