Knights win opener
Body
The Faith Academy Knight football team opened its season in thrilling fashion with a 47-44 win over Beaumont Legacy Christian Academy, a Class 4A school. The Class 1A Knights jumped out to an early lead after a 58-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Noah Figueroa to freshman Travis Woodley on the first play from scrimmage.
Lady Knights sweep Connection

The Faith Academy Lady Knight volleyball squad opened last week of play with a sweep of The Connection School before it split a doubleheader against Weimar Friday to move to 6-5 on the season. In Faith Academy’s 3-0 win over Connection (25-9, 25-19, 25-14), head coach Deborah Boudoin said the team is learning from its mistakes and shows growth in each match.
Faith hits The Woodlands

800 runners arrived at The Woodlands Christian Academy Saturday, Aug. 28, for a competitive day of cross country running.
Austin County wins openers

The high school football season kicked off across the state of Texas last Friday and all four teams in Austin County secured wins in their first games of the year. Sealy, Bellville and Faith Academy all surpassed 40 points and although Brazos only scored 23, it allowed only eight to Anderson-Shiro to seal the deal.
STARTING ON THE RIGHT FOOT

The Sealy Tiger football team started its season on the right foot with a 43-14 win over the Brazosport Exporters Friday. Before the game, Special Olympics athletes were honored for their efforts and got to run out of the Tiger tunnel to T.J. Mills Stadium’s cheering fans, raised the American flag as the anthem was playing and sent a few representatives out to midfield for the opening coin toss. Tigers sink Exporters

The Sealy Tigers raced out for 22 unanswered points in the first quarter and never looked back en route to a 43-14, season-opening win over the Brazosport Exporters Friday night on Mark A. Chapman Field at T.J. Mills Stadium.
Garcia takes third
Body
The Brazos Cougar cross country team competed in the Frio Friday Night Lights Cross Country Meet last Friday in Sealy. Individually in the varsity girls’ division, Esmeralda Garcia was third, Denise Hauer finished sixth and Rubi Garcia placed 28th.
Cougarettes win 2nd
Body
The Brazos Cougarette volleyball squad competed in the Schulenburg Tournament last weekend and came away with a 7-1 record and second-place finish. Senior Meagan Demny and junior Haiven Harris-Alvarado were named to the all-tournament team for their efforts. Brazos was set to face Bellville earlier this week before it competes in the Anderson-Shiro Tournament this weekend to wrap up tournament play. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
