County says EMS coverage enough

During the June 6 regular meeting of the Sealy City Council at the W. E. Hill Community Center, Austin County EMS Chief/ Director Walter Morrow said despite being offered to open up additional EMS services in the county, county officials believe that “we have sufficient EMS coverage locally.”

Rogers ready to lead Brazos ISD

The U.S. Small Business Association says that “Since 1990, big businesses eliminated 4 million jobs, while small businesses added 8 million jobs.” Independent Retailer Month, celebrated each July since 2003, honors the important role small, independent businesses play in the overall economic health of communities.

Five cars broken into at Apex Stone

Five cars were reportedly broken into at Apex Stone in San Felipe Wednesday between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. according to owner Justin Jackson.

Thursday evening, Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes said the department responded to a call at 4:45 p.m. where multiple cars were broken into at Apex Stone. Evidence and reports were handed over to the San Felipe Police Department which was handling the investigation.

Dr. Ambrose joins A&M faculty

Dr. Robert Ambrose has joined the faculty of the J. Mike Walker ‘66 Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University. Along with his appointment, Ambrose is also the recipient of the Governor’s University Research Initiative (GURI) grant program and The Texas A&M University System Chancellor’s Research Initiative (CRI).

Youngers arrested in northwest Houston

June 29, FBI Houston Agents arrested Darrell Youngers in northwest Houston in connection to the Jan. 6 violence at the U.S. Capitol. He’s the eighth individual arrested by FBI Houston in connection to the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol.

LCRA offers grants for community projects

The Lower Colorado River Authority is offering grants of up to $50,000 for community projects throughout LCRA’s wholesale power, water and transmission service territory. Applications for this round of Community Development Partnership Program grants were available online starting July 1 and must be submitted by midnight July 31.

HCSO deputies injured in line of duty awarded $10,000

June 19, the Texas Association of First Responders provided a donation totaling $10,000 to five Harris County Sheriff’s Office Deputies who were injured in the line of duty. Three of the recipients were involved in the same incident while the other two were individually involved in other cases.
