The Texas EEA (Extension Education Association) of Austin County, which is a direct part of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, has started making plans for educational opportunities in Austin County for 2021-2022.

Many Texans lost several layers of skin last week – seared off by contact with the superheated upholstery in cars. They are also a little dehydrated by the dangerous combination of heat and humidity that has them sweating buckets just walking to or from the car and the nearest cool structure.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has added Brett James Martinson to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list. Martinson, 47, is wanted for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements, aggregate theft and a parole violation.

Facing an unprecedented surge of contraband and human trafficking along the Texas-Mexico border, State Senator Lois W. Kolkhorst (R-Brenham) joined Governor Greg Abbott (R), Lt. Governor Dan Patrick (R) and Speaker of the House Dade Phelan (R) the State Capitol on Wednesday, to support the construction of the Texas border wall by the State of Texas.

Thirty-six students graduated recently from the Blinn College District Vocational Nursing Program. The 10-month pro gram includes classroom, laboratory, and clinical training.

Madison Streckfuss of Bellville graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Abilene Christian University. Streckfuss was among more than 1,200 students who received degrees at May Commencement in a combined ceremony for December 2020 and May 2021 graduates.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas urged Texans to cut back on power usage last week when an unusually large number of power plants shut down for unexpected repairs as temperatures soared. ERCOT officials announced Friday that Texans could resume normal levels of electricity use, however.
