The Sealy City Council hosted two special meetings last week to discuss the budget for the upcoming year and deliberated over how the funds could be best put to use for the city. The council considered the advantages of using contract workers as opposed to full-time employees to save money on wages and benefits.

The Sealy American Legion Hall hosted the Sealy Chamber of Commerce’s Bingo Night With the Chamber Aug. 5 where the doors opened at 5 p.m.

For Eagle rank, these Eagle Scouts completed projects that benefited various nonprofit groups within the community. They held leadership positions within the troop, attended multiple camps to gain skills and knowledge, participated in multiple community projects and added together they earned over 180 merit badges.

Chasing a calf in a rodeo arena for the chance to earn some money may not sound like a lot of fun, but it comes with amazing opportunities if you are willing to give it a try! I enjoyed it so much that I have actually competed five times across the state of Texas. It was a brand-new concept to our family when we first heard about it eight years ago.

The Brazos FFA Chapter was recognized as a gold-level chapter for the esteemed Golden Horizon award in the Division II category at the 93rd annual Texas FFA State Convention held July 5-9 in Fort Worth. The gold-level Golden Horizon award is the highest state rating to be bestowed upon a Texas FFA chapter.

Gov. Greg Abbott visited Austin County this weekend to attend the Grand Old Picnic in New Ulm. This event, hosted by the Austin County Republican Party (ACRP), had more than 200 visitors including many state and local officials.

Three Eagle Scouts were recognized at last week’s Sealy City Council meeting for completing their Eagle Scout Projects. Zander Crawley, Cameron Eschenburg and Ike Konvicka were three of the most recent scouts from Sealy Troop 548 to achieve Eagle Scout status.
