How to prepare for disasters that could strike while traveling

No area is immune to natural disasters or emergencies. When disaster strikes at home, people who live in areas that are accustomed to certain storms often take things in stride. For example, longtime residents of areas where hurricane season can be harsh can draw on years of experience confronting such storms, and that history can make it easier when the next hurricane touches down. But what about when disasters strike while traveling?

Active shooter training at Bellville High School

Emergency responders from within Austin County took part in a mass casualty/active shooter training drill at Bellville High School last Thursday morning, June 10. The emergency responders who took part in the training exercise represented a variety of agencies including Austin County EMS, the Bellville Volunteer Fire Department, Sealy ISD Police, the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, the Bellville Police Department, the Bellville Medical Center ER, and the Austin County Special Response Team (which is comprised of specially trained officers from multiple law enforcement agencies within and outside of Austin County).
