AThe Brazos Cougars and Cougarettes took on two district opponents this week and came away with two wins and two losses. They matched up against Van Vleck and Hempstead to start to wrap their district schedule.
State budget filed in the Texas Senate

AUSTIN - Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued the following statement today upon the filing of Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), the State Budget, by Sen. Joan Huffman, R-Houston: “Today, Senate Finance Chair Joan Huffman filed SB 1, the Texas Senate’s introduced state budget for the 2026-2027 biennium. My budget team and I have worked alongside Chair Huffman and the Senate Finance Committee to ensure the Senate’s state budget reflects the conservative priorities of Texans. I thank Chair Huffman for her tireless work over the interim to produce this budget. She has been a great partner throughout this process, which began in late August.
Blinn livestock judging team places fifth at Denver contest

Blinn College’s livestock judging team placed fifth at the recent National Western Stock Show (NWSS) Carload Contest in Denver, Colo. Grant Kubala placed seventh among individual competitors, tying for first in questions and finishing 15th in placings.
Lady Tigers win back-to-back district games

The Sealy Lady Tigers won their first two district games back-to-back to start their district schedule 2-0. The Lady Tigers matched up against New Waverly and Royal and they were two interesting games for the Lady Tigers.
Brahmas lose back-to-back district games

The Bellville Brahmas lost back-to-back district games to fall to 3-3 and third place in the district. Bellville took on both La Grange and Navasota on the road in a district game, they are still in the playoff race, but they need to bounce back with a big win soon.
Sealy JH girls basketball teams sweep wins over Smithville

On Thursday Jan. 31 the Sealy Junior High Girls basketball team played Smithville and walked away with a clean sweep.
Tigers drop back-to-back district games

The Sealy Tigers are holding onto the final playoff spot in the midst of a heated playoff race and just lost back-toback district games. The Tigers dropped games to Royal and Stafford, but they did not fall out of the playoff pic-ture, they are still in fourth place but will need wins soon if they want to secure their spot.

The Sealy Tigers basketball team has had a lot of success this season and have set themselves up to be one of the four teams in the district to make the playoffs. With a 13-5 record overall and a 5-2 record in district play which has them in third place in the district.
Lady Tigers looking to punch ticket for playoffs

The Sealy Lady Tigers are looking to punch their ticket to the playoffs and this week of games is going to play a big factor in that outcome. The Lady Tigers, like the boys’ team, are in third place in the district with a 5-3 record.
