Sealy wins finale 43-0

The Sealy Tigers closed the regular season with a 43-0 win over the La Marque Cougars to secure the No. 2 seed from District 12-4A-D2 behind strong performances from members of the Class of 2022.

Sealy is set to face Silsbee in the bi-district round of the playoffs next week with details still to be determined as of postgame.

Lady Tigers win bi-district

The Sealy Lady Tiger volleyball squad opened the playoffs with a forfeit win over North Forest Monday to claim a second consecutive bi-district championship. The second-place team from District 24-4A matched up with the third-place North Forest Bulldogs from Houston’s District 23 but COVID-19 issues amongst the North Forest roster forced the team to forfeit.

Astros force Game 6

As of press time, the Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves were returning to Minute Maid Park for Game 6 Tuesday night with the visitors leading three games to two in the best-of-seven series. If the Astros won Tuesday, Game 7 was scheduled to follow Wednesday night in Houston as well.

Cougarettes win bi-district

This week in Brazos sports, the Cougarette volleyball team opened the playoffs with a bidistrict sweep of New Waverly Monday and Esmeralda Garcia will represent Brazos at the UIL Class 3A State cross country meet Friday morning, Nov. 5. Last Friday, the Cougar football team honored its seniors and will play its season finale at the end of this week.

Sealy shuts down Wharton

After forcing a three and out to open the game, Sealy held the ball for 2:10, built a 16-point lead and never looked back to help earn a 58-7 win in the Battle of the Tigers in Wharton Friday night at Eddie Joseph Memorial Stadium.

In the penultimate District 12-4A-D2 contest, Sealy improved its record to 3-2 and Wharton fell to 0-5. With a La Marque loss to Bellville Friday night, Sealy secured a playoff berth for the second year in a row.
