Brazos High School seniors Joanna Ramos and Elijah Johnson were crowned Homecoming Queen and King during halftime of last Friday’s football game against St. Joseph. The students also voted on and awarded a beau and sweetheart for football, band and FFA. Bryan Maldonado and Makinzy Kneip won football beau and sweetheart, Josh Martinez and Joanna Ramos were named the band beau and sweetheart and Hayden Vykukal and Kirby Richardson were the FFA beau and sweetheart.

In the final regular-season meet of the cross country season, the Sealy Tigers won the team race and the Lady Tigers had top finishers that helped secure a podium finish in Shiner last Saturday. The Lady Tigers’ top finishers came in third, sixth and 13th overall but the results miscalculated the score of the first finisher – freshman Ria Torres – which threw off the team standings.

The Sealy Tiger football team returns to the gridiron this Friday night against Royal after the district-wide open week last Friday. This week’s contest will serve as the first within District 12-4A-D2 and both Sealy and visiting Royal will enter with 3-2 non-district records.

The Sealy Lady Tiger volleyball team earned a pair of wins last week to move its overall record to 17-18 and its record within District 24-4A to 3-1 for a tie for second place. Owning a similar 3-1 district record entering this week of play, El Campo was scheduled to make a road trip earlier this week before a bye on Friday.

The Sealy Tiger fall tennis team continued their strong start to the season and earned a 15-4 victory over El Campo last Tuesday afternoon. Sealy was scheduled to host Wharton on Tuesday of this week for the final regular-season match of the district season.

The Faith Academy cross country team had a meet scheduled for Faith West Academy Saturday morning but Katy received six inches of rain Friday, Oct. 1, which filled the reservoir at Mason Creek Park. This forced the meet officials to run the cross country meet on a backup course.
