This week of football started with an entertaining Thursday night showdown between the New York Giants and the Washington Football team that came down to the wire. In the final minutes, Sealy and Texas A&M alum Ricky Seals-Jones caught his first pass of the season and it served as the gametying touchdown with 4:33 left in the contest that helped host Washington earn its first win of the season.

Faith volleyball sweeps KOR

The Faith Academy Lady Knight volleyball squad split its two matches last week to move to an 11-7 overall record. Faith Academy swept KOR (25-9, 25-23, 25-19) and battled Royal to a four-set loss (13-25, 25-19, 24-26, 23-25).

Abbott tops Faith Academy

The Faith Academy Knights’ football team traveled to Bryan Allen Academy which served as a neutral site for its contest against the Abbott Panthers, the sixth-ranked team in Dave Campbell’s Texas Football state rankings for Class 1A/six-man Division I.

A Teams down Wharton

Sealy Junior High football kicked off its season last week both A Teams from seventh and eighth grade took care of business against Wharton. The seventh grade A Team won by a 26-13 final score where quarterback Weston Cryan led the way with 100 rushing yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns.

Stafford spoils homecoming 28-14

Sealy junior quarterback D’vonne Hmielewski was intercepted four times and visiting Stafford turned two of them directly into touchdowns to help earn a 28-14 win Friday night, spoiling the Tigers’ homecoming contest at T.J. Mills Stadium.

Sealy falls to Lake Creek 41-34

For nearly two and a half quarters, the Sealy Tigers not only hung with but led the Class 5A Lake Creek Lions on the road Friday night in non-district action. Down the stretch, Sealy suffered multiple injuries and Lake Creek’s depth eventually took over to win 41-34, capped by a 21-point fourth quarter.

Tigers, Lions clash in battle of undefeateds

A pair of 2-0 teams will clash Friday night in Montgomery when the Sealy Tigers face off against the Lake Creek Lions.

Sealy Head Football Coach Shane Mobley spoke on the importance of punching above your weight class and looked forward to seeing his 4A Tigers battle the 5A Lions.
