Tigers ready for regionals

After they swept their district championship meet, the Sealy cross country teams will travel to Huntsville Monday afternoon for the Region III Championship. Last year, Sealy finished well at the regional meet but sent only two individual Lady Tigers to state and this year, the goal is set to take both teams to Round Rock.

Sealy finishes in Area

As the second-place team in District 24-4A, the Sealy Tiger fall tennis team earned a bye through the first round of the playoffs and met Hamshire-Fannett in the Area Championship last Monday, Oct. 11. The District 21 winners swept the second-round match 19-0 and was set to meet Orange LCM in the regional quarterfinals.

Houston wins ALCS Game 1, 5-4

Brahmas buck Tigers 42-7

With five touchdowns, senior running back Richard Reese helped carry the No. 6 state-ranked Bellville Brahmas (7-0, 2-0) to their first victory in the Mill Creek rivalry since 2016 with a 42-7 win over the Sealy Tigers (4-3, 1-1) Friday night at the Pasture of Pain in District 12-4A-D2 action.

In the 83rd meeting of the Austin County rivals, Bellville extended its all-time lead in the series to 49-34 and snapped a four-game losing streak.

Runners prep for district

Last week in Brazos sports, the Cougarette volleyball team split its matches, cross country runners competed in Bay City and the Brazos football squad dropped its district-opening contest. Last Friday, East Bernard was the opponent on the volleyball court and football field for district action.

OFF TO THE RACES

Thirty-two seconds into the Sealy Tigers’ first district game of the year, senior Thomas Clark intercepted a pass and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown to give the hosts an early 8-0 lead. Clark also scored on an 11-yard reception and provided the bookending scores to help secure a 26-0 win over the Royal Falcons Friday night in the first District 12-4A-D2 contest of the season.
