The Sealy Lady Tiger basketball squad had only one game last week before another solo non-district match was scheduled to start this week of play Tuesday ahead of the Ganado Tournament this weekend. Sealy earned a 48-39 nondistrict win over Class 6A Spring Woods last Monday at home to move its early overall record to 3-5.

Four years removed from not fielding a team due to a lack of participation, the Faith Academy Knights fell just short of a state championship against the Northside Lions last Saturday afternoon at Allen Academy’s Baker Field in Bryan with a 63-54 final score in the Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organization’s (TAIAO) 6-man Division 2 final.

The Sealy Tiger basketball team was scheduled to open its regular season earlier this week on the road in Columbus after a quick turnaround following the end of the football season. Head Coach Cody Carruthers returns for his second year at the helm after serving as previous head coach Ray Dabney’s assistant.

The China Spring Cougars stymied the Sealy Tigers early and often and rolled to a 48-7 win in the Area Championship at Waco ISD Stadium Friday night to eliminate Sealy for the second straight season. The Tigers served as the visitors at the neutral site and although both teams traded three-and-outs on their first drives, Tristan Exline pulled down an interception on the third play of Sealy’s second drive and Kyle Barton cashed in on the other end to open the scoring.

The Sealy Lady Tiger volleyball team earned multiple alldistrict recognitions including the Defensive MVP in Bailey Koy, five on all-district teams, four more all-district honorable mentions and 14 academic alldistrict distinctions.

The Sealy Lady Tiger basketball squad picked up its first win of the regular season last Tuesday on the road in West Columbia before it competed in a tournament in Ganado over the weekend. Sealy was scheduled for one more non-district tilt against Spring Woods earlier this week before having a week off for Thanksgiving.

After a 40-30 win over San Antonio Jubilee at home in the state semifinal, the Faith Academy Knights punched their ticket to the Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organizations’ (TAIAO) State Championship against the Northside Lions Saturday, Nov. 27, at Bryan Allen Academy with kickoff set for noon.

For the second year in a row, the Bellville Brahmanette volleyball squad fell in their state semifinal match, this time against Decatur, at the Culwell Center in Garland last Thursday, Nov. 18. The Eagles went on to beat Celina in the finals to claim the Class 4A State Championship.
