Metzgar wins Regional meet

Sealy’s Jeremiah Metzgar Jr. used a personal-record total of 1,200 pounds to win the 148- pound weight class at the Texas High School Powerlifting Association’s Region 4 Division 2 Championship in Saratoga last Saturday, March 12. He’ll represent the Tigers at the State Championship in Abilene March 26.

Softball opens district

The Sealy Lady Tiger softball squad opened play within District 24-4A Monday afternoon against the Navasota Lady Rattlers and fell in a 10-9 decision. Sealy was set to travel to Wharton Tuesday evening then have the rest of this week off before traveling to El Campo and Royal next week.

Students place at UIL competition

Students from Maggie B. Selman Elementary and Sealy Elementary competed in a variety of UIL events against Bellville ISD in early February. Students have been dedicated and practicing for many months before and after school. Their hard work and determination paid off, as over 80 SISD students took home either a ribbon or a medal. Six Cougarette powerlifters state bound

Last week in Brazos sports, six Cougarettes qualified for the state powerlifting championship and the track teams hosted the Cougar Relays. At the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association’s Region 2 Division 3 Championship in Dublin March 3, Brazos’ Jemma Zahradnik (114-pound class), Jessica Ramos (148), Joanna Ramos (181), Tiona Steward (220) and Marlena Nunn (259+) all punched their ticket to the state championship as the third representative from their respective weight classes.
