Behind the individual district champion Ethan Doyle, the Sealy Tiger golf team finished second at the District 24-4A Championship and advanced to the Region III Championship in Huntsville April 20 and 21.

Sophomore Kaylie Dabney represented the Lady Tigers as an individual regional qualifier and will head to Huntsville April 18 and 19 for the championship tournament.

The two-day district match was hosted in Navasota March 28 and April 4. Doyle held only a one-stroke lead after his first-round total of 79 but with a second-day round of 76, he secured a six-stroke lead over second-place Deacon Bauerschlag of Bellville.

Brock Montier broke 170 strokes and Garret Nedd and Jackson Burttschell were both in the 180-stroke range to supplement the scoring. Colby Nedd rounded out the Sealy golfers with a total of 198. The Bellville Brahmas took the men’s team title with the secondand third-place individual finishers.

On the female circuit, Dabney’s round had her ninth overall individually and had one of the top scores of golfers not on a regional-advancing team. She used rounds of 110 and 112 strokes and was followed not far behind by teammates Bailey Koy and Lindsey Dziadek. The Brahmanettes won the women’s team title with a 35-stroke lead over second-place El Campo.
