The Sealy Tiger baseball and softball teams are in full swing into their regular seasons. Both teams had an individual game and tournament action last week.
The Sealy powerlifting teams competed at the Swamp Strength Booster Club Invitational Feb. 19 to close the regular season and 19 lifters – 10 Lady Tigers and nine Tigers – finished in the top 12 of the regional rankings for their weight class which qualifies them for the regional championships this weekend.
The Sealy Tiger tennis team traveled to Wharton Feb. 24 and came away with plenty of hardware including first place in boys’ doubles in both the A and B Division.
Sunday, Feb. 27, Brazos High School students competed in the Texas Association of Community Schools’ State Academy Challenge Scholarship contest at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton and a trio of Cougars earned first place.
Brazos junior pitcher Taylor Brzozowski’s comeback from Chiari Malformation – a cerebellum issue that required surgery – culminated in her verbal commitment to play softball for Concordia College in February.
The Sealy Lady Tigers fell in a 53-50 nailbiter to the Worthing Colts in the bi-district round of the playoffs in their first postseason trip since the 2017-2018 season last Tuesday at Morton Ranch High School.
The Sealy Tiger baseball team opened the regular season earlier this week when it hosted the Columbia Roughnecks Monday night at Aubrey “Mutt” Stuessel Stadium. Sealy closed the scrimmage season last Friday in Fulshear against the Jordan Knights where the final preps were made.
The Sealy Tiger soccer teams traveled to Hempstead last Friday night to open the second round of play within District 20-4A and earned a sweep of the host Bobcats. The Tigers tied 1-1 in regulation but won 3-2 in a penalty kick shootout and the Lady Tigers won 3-0.
In the final games of the season, the Faith Academy Lady Knight basketball squad fought through two rounds of the Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organizations’ (TAIAO) State Tournament and finished on a high note. By the end of it, Faith Academy fell to Temple Christian 54-24 and Tribe Homeschool 27-21.
