Lady Tigers notch first district win

The Sealy Lady Tiger softball team notched its first win, 16-0 in three innings, within District 24-4A last Friday on the road in Brookshire over the Royal Lady Falcons. The visitors nearly batted around twice in the first inning and finished with 12 runs on the board before freshman Haylie Eder stepped into the pitcher’s circle for a 1-2-3 inning.

Browning no-hits Brazosport Christian

Faith Academy senior Preston Browning was brilliant on the mound last Thursday and finished a no-hitter to help the Knights down Brazosport Christian 14-0. The right-handed pitcher went four innings, struck out four batters and didn’t allow a hit or run in his pitching debut.

Sealy nine start hot

The Sealy Tiger baseball team opened District 24-4A play last week and earned the victory in both contests, 5-3 over El Campo Tuesday and 13-2 over Royal Friday. Despite the wins, Head Coach Trey Marik acknowledged there are still things the squad needs to work on.

Knights run Swamp Relays

The Faith Academy track team ran at the Swamp Relays on the Rice Consolidated campus in Garwood March 24. Ten teams from the surrounding counties were represented.

Cougarette powerlifters compete at state

Five Brazos Cougarette powerlifters competed in the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association’s Class 3A Small School State Championship last Thursday, March 17, and three finished with personal-record totals to close the season.

The Sealy Tiger baseball team embarks upon its district stretch of games this week with road trips to El Campo and Brookshire on the docket. Sealy finished non-district play with an 11-4 record after it split last week with a 2-0 home loss to Giddings and a 9-0 road win over La Grange.

Lady Tigers drop district tilts

The Sealy Lady Tigers opened district play over spring break and dropped their first two District 24-4A contests last Monday at home and Tuesday on the road. Sealy’s first district game was a back-and-forth battle but the Navasota Lady Rattlers eventually emerged victorious 10-9.

District 20 gears up for playoffs

Austin County will be well represented in the UIL Region 3-4 Playoffs on the soccer pitch at the end of this week with both men’s and women’s teams qualifying from Sealy and Bellville. In the Bi-District Championship, the District 20-4A Champion Lady Tigers draw the Rockdale Tigers this Friday in Columbus with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
