Drought status removed from Lake Somerville

Recent rainfall events in the Brazos River basin have resulted in significant improvement to drought conditions, allowing the Brazos River Authority to remove the Stage 1 drought status designation from Lake Somerville.
Two of Texas’ 10 most wanted back in custody

In the last week, authorities have captured two of Texas’ Top 10 fugitives. Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive Eric Munoz was captured on May 4, 2021, in Donna, Texas, during Operation Lone Star, while Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender Marcus Lee Torres was arrested on May 7, 2021, in Snyder, Texas. Crime Stoppers rewards will not be paid in either case.

Senate Bill 10 would hurt county at state level

According to Austin County Commissioner Mark Lamp, Senate Bill 10 will “cripple” the county’s right to lobby in front of state legislative sessions and that in turn will hurt the county as a whole, he said at the regular meeting of commissioners court May 10.
Texas German Society features Jail Museum

The Austin County Jail House Museum was the most recent program of the Bluebonnet Chapter of the Texas German Society. Bruce Noviskie, who lived in the Jail House while his late father, “Cotton” Noviskie was Chief Deputy of Austin County, made the presentation Sunday afternoon.
