Gov. Greg Abbott visited Austin County this weekend to attend the Grand Old Picnic in New Ulm. This event, hosted by the Austin County Republican Party (ACRP), had more than 200 visitors including many state and local officials.
Eagle Scout trio honored

Three Eagle Scouts were recognized at last week’s Sealy City Council meeting for completing their Eagle Scout Projects. Zander Crawley, Cameron Eschenburg and Ike Konvicka were three of the most recent scouts from Sealy Troop 548 to achieve Eagle Scout status.
3 million miles later

Wednesday afternoon, Billy Murphy pulled into the Sealy Walmart Distribution Center with a smile as wide as his trailer while family, friends and coworkers greeted him at the gate to celebrate a milestone of 3 million miles driven without an avoidable accident that was more than two and a half decades in the making.
City Council developing new water well

During the Aug. 3 meeting of the Sealy City Council, the council approved for staff to move forward with developing new a water well for Sealy. The new water well will be online in the next 12 months.

The Garden Club of Sealy recently announced the Yards of the Month for July, one for business and one for a home. The Business Yard of the Month was chosen as San Juan Meat Market & Taqueria, located at 102 Main Street.
Youth camps wrap up

The Brazos High School youth volleyball and football camps wrapped up last week with participants receiving a t-shirt for a job well done.
