Blinn, five partner ISDs awarded grant

The Blinn College District and the Columbus, Fayetteville, Flatonia, Schulenburg, and Weimar ISDs celebrated the launch of a new partnership designed to increase high school dual credit completion and establish seamless pathways toward postsecondary awards and industry credentials with a signing ceremony held Thursday, Sept. 23, on the Blinn College-Schulenburg Campus.
DPS graduates first ever EMT class

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) made history after graduating its first-ever DPS Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) class. The class of 15 Troopers graduated during a ceremony at DPS Headquarters in Austin Thursday, Sept. 30.
Applications now accepted for fellowship

The Texas State Historical Association (TSHA) is now accepting applications for the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) Research Fellowship in Texas History. The fellowship includes a $2,000 stipend and is awarded for the best research proposal utilizing the collections of the State Archives in Austin.

Lerow wins honors at National Barrow Show

Blinn College’s Kase Lerow won top individual honors at the National Barrow Show. Lerow, a sophomore from Waco, also placed third in reasons as Blinn’s livestock judging team kicked off its fall 2021 season recently at the barrow show held in Austin, Minn.
Dance Hall exhibit winds down

The historic dance hall exhibit at the Gordon Memorial Library in Sealy closed up shop Wednesday after being on display for well over six months. Venues from all over Austin County were included in the exhibit.
Man charged in cold case killing

Holy Cross Parish Bazaar on Sunday

Riverside Hall will be the site of the Holy Cross Parish Bazaar, Sunday, Oct. 10. Lunch consisting of BBQ beef, chicken and sausage with “homemade” dressing and all the trimmings will be served at 11:00 a.m. Hamburgers will be available at 3:00 p.m. Pastries, refreshments and country store items will be available for purchase during the day.
