Sam Houston State University has a long history of supporting those in uniform and has earned a strong reputation for being a military friendly campus, including receiving nationwide attention as one of the top schools for veterans.

Angela Mlcak of Sealy, Texas, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective alldiscipline collegiate honor society. Mlcak was initiated at University of Houston-Victoria.

The end is in sight for the Interstate 10 construction project through the city of Sealy. TxDOT Project Manager Clay Harris gave an update during the April 5 Sealy City Council meeting and said the target end date is this summer.

With beautiful blue skies and mostly mild breezes, Sealy Area Historical Society’s Spring Fest April 9 had perfect weather for a day of outdoor entertainment and games. Singers, dancers and storytellers revealed the history of our great state through their performances.

Wednesday afternoon, Sealy ISD announced the passing of a Sealy High School student.

SISD Superintendent Bryan Hallmark confirmed Thursday morning an off-campus incident resulted in the death of a student.

Sealy FFA Judging teams competed in the Area XI CDE and five groups earned top finishes to become state qualifiers. Livestock Judging, Horse Judging and Floricultural teams all finished second in their disciplines, the Meat Judging team earned third and the Milk Quality Products squad took fourth place. The Nursery and Landscape team also competed and fell just shy of a state qualification with a sixth-place finish.
