Students in the Sealy Independent School District encountering mental-health issues do not have to face these challenges alone, according to SISD officials. There are plenty of resources to call upon for pupils and their concerned parents, added Mary Gajewski, director of SISD Special Programs.

Paying for the training of Austin County Sheriff’s Department cadets while they’re enrolled at the academy might be one answer to a staffing shortfall, County Commissioners heard this week. Commissioners during their meeting took no action on the proposal and asked the Sheriff’s Department for more information to be presented at future meetings.

Five Brazos FFA teams qualified for the 94th Texas FFA State Convention after top finishes at the Area XI Career Development Event earlier in April. Three judging teams won their discipline – Wool, Dairy Cattle, Vet Science – and two more teams featured individuals who recorded standout performances – Land and Homesite Evaluation.

April 1-3, the Faith Academy of Bellville junior class embarked on their great adventure. Friday saw them deep in the bowels of Kickapoo Caverns in Brackettville, Texas on a two-and-a-half-hour wild cave tour.

San Felipe residents will be able to utilize their new lake and walking trail by this July, and their fairgrounds by the end of the year, according to Jonathan Weiser of Webber Construction Company. “The lake project is going to be complete prior to us leaving,” Weiser said during the April 12 meeting.
