Miss Brittany Guardia’s 4th Grade social studies classes recently participated in “field trip in a box” activities for their Ag in the Classroom unit at Faith Academy of Bellville. This unit included “cotton’s journey,” from the field to the store, and highlighted not only the growth and harvesting processes but also the various uses for cotton fiber, cotton seeds and cottonseed oil.

Lunch with Leman

State Representative Ben Leman was the featured speaker at the Sealy Chamber of Commerce’s recent governmental luncheon at the Legion Hall last Wednesday. Leman spoke about some of the legislation passed this session, as well as answered questions from local officials on Winter Storm Uri.

Sealy ISD approves instructional coach

The Sealy ISD Board of Trustees approved Bilingual Coordinator Emily Eschenburg to find a bilingual/ESL instructional coach ahead of the 2022-23 school year. The new position will support instruction hands-on in the 20 classrooms across both elementary campuses and allow Eschenburg to continue facilitating her coordinator role alongside fulfilling English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) responsibilities.

Vote Centers to debut in May

In Austin County, Vote Centers will be used for the May 7 General Election and all future elections, the county’s Election Official Kim Rinn said Monday. In Vote Centers, also known as the Countywide Polling Place Program, enables any registered voter within the county to vote at any Vote Center polling place on Election Day,” a March 28 release said.
