The Austin County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Waller County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Westside HIDTA task force in the execution of a warrant that resulted in nine arrests, multiple felony charges and the seizure of 22 guns – three of which were found to be stolen.

Town Council amends Building Permit Ordinance

The Town of San Felipe Council approved amendments to the Building Permit Ordinance and On-Site Sewage Ordinance during the regular meeting in the Town Hall Council Meeting Room last Tuesday, Jan. 11. The council also suggested future changes to the Building Permit Ordinance that could significantly impact the building/remodeling process for future developers and residents in the town.
Wintry precipitation possible tonight

The strong cold front that arrived Wednesday night has brought a risk of wintry precipitation tonight through tomorrow morning, mainly south of Interstate 10, according to a Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service Thursday morning, Jan. 20.
Catalytic converter theft suspects arrested

Three suspects accused of catalytic convert theft were arrested by Sealy Police at approximately 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19 after an observant neighbor notified the police of suspicious activity, according to the Sealy Police Department.
Sealy Fire makes first full-time hires

Austin County Emergency Service District No. 2/Sealy Fire Department made a historic move in the hiring of their first full-time firefighters. Jan 3, two members – Columbus’ Kevin Kramr and Bellville’s Devin Kern – became the first full-time firefighters in Sealy and Austin County.
HLSR announces entertainment lineup

Jan. 5, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officials released the entertainment lineup for the 2022 Rodeo season that is scheduled for Feb. 28 – March 20 in celebration of its 90th anniversary.
The lineup features a mix of genres including country, EDM, Latin pop, R&B/pop, Norteño, pop, rock and Christian. Nearly half of the artists will make their RODEOHOUSTON debut in 2022.
Bellville mom killed; Allen arrested

A Bellville mother identified as 24-year-old Italia McGregor was Houston’s first shooting victim of 2022 around 2 a.m. Jan. 1 in an incident that injured two other men. She left behind three children, including a two-month-old.
