Sealy High School’s One Act Play company of Wise Children punched its ticket to the Regional Competition with a top finish in the Area round last Tuesday in Crosby. SOAP enters regionals ranked in the top 16 of Class 4A. On top of advancing through Area, a quartet of Sealy representatives also earned individual awards. Sealy High School students recently competed in the District 24-4A UIL Academic meet and earned top marks. Eight individuals and one team punched their ticket to the Regional meet as well.

Brazos FFA members recently competed in the Area XI CDE and the Wool team registered first place to qualify for the state contest. The Floral team took fifth in their discipline and the Livestock Judging team (consisting of Hayden Vykukal, Luke Vykukal, Damien Beeman and Reid Warr) finished 19th.

Brazos ISD Superintendent Scott Rogers presented two updated teacher pay scale recommendations to the board during March 23’s regular meeting of the Brazos ISD Board of Trustees based on a discussion from the previous meeting.

During the March 28 meeting of the Austin County Commissioners Court, a discussion was held regarding the installation of security cameras at the Precinct 1, 3 and 4 barns. Theft in the Precinct 4 barn led Commissioner Chip Reed to look into the cost of getting security cameras around the building.

Gophers can be a destructive nuisance to folks that grow hay or raise livestock, and the springtime is a great time to address them too. Gopher burrowing can cause damage to equipment and livestock injuries.

The City of Sealy Health Inspector has inspected the following establishments for food preparation, kitchen cleanliness, and sanitary conditions: MARCH 29 Chicken Express, 2211 Highway 36 South: Fountain drink nozzles need to be cleaned. Restaurant and restrooms very clean.
