Sealy FFA Livestock Judging teams kicked off their 2022 seasons with plenty of ribbons and recognition. The Junior girls’ team of Sydney Petrash, Atalie Petrash, Ainsley Oliver and Callie Whatley took home Champion and the Junior boys’ team in Nicholas McDaniel, Reese Reichardt, Cole Whatley, Levi McNeely, Kash Parker, Keaton Parker and Chandler Austin finished 10th at the San Antonio Stock Show.

Miss Guardia’s fifthgrade class from Faith Academy had the privilege of taking a field trip Feb. 2 out to the San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site and Phenix Knives in the old blacksmith shop.

Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 22, at the Austin County Courthouse, the Honorable Daniel Leedy officially swore in four new Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers.

Saturday, Jan. 22, was the date of the dedication of a Texas Historical Commission historic marker at the Peters-Hacienda Community Hall in between Sealy and Bellville.

Families are really moving across Texas! The second-week results are in, and I am excited to share them with our communities. At the end of the second week, several classes are kicking up their heels in an amazing way! We are proud to report the participants and their families have accumulated 14,198 miles so far.

This election season in Austin County, citizens should be aware of the consequences of stealing election signs. During the primary elections, campaign signs have been stolen in Austin County.

Early voting for the March 1 Primary Elections wrapped up last Friday. Election-day results were unavailable before press time but head to sealynews.com and The Sealy News’ social media pages for results as soon as they become available.

The Sealy ISD Board of Trustees approved employee retention stipends and substitute incentives during last Wednesday’s regular meeting in the Administration Building. The board also approved new band uniforms and water-related projects at the high school.
