Auction records shatter

The crowd was energetic and filled with joyous shouts, as the two top lots broke the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Auction records. The Grand Champion Work of Art, a colored drawing titled “In His Hands,” and created by Gracin Nguyen of Pearland ISD, sold for a Rodeo record of $250,000 to Randa and Ray Gilliam, Mary and Ken Hucherson, Julie and Alan Kent, and Kristina and Paul Somerville.

SCHRAM NAMED GRAND CHAMP

Sealy High School’s Kenna Schram was crowned the Grand Champion for her Pen of Broilers (cockerels) at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo over the weekend. Her project sold for $200,000 to Roger Camp, Becky and Kelly Joy, Julie and Alan Kent and Gregory Miller at the 2022 Junior Market Poultry Show.

Trio charged in attempted post office burglary

March 13, at approximately 12:40 a.m., Austin County Deputies were dispatched to the Industry Post Office in reference to several suspects attempting to break into the drop box. A witness was able to give a description of the suspects and their vehicle as it fled the scene. 

With the help of Brenham Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was located in Brenham and three suspects were taken into custody.
