Johnson opens Rodeo with third-highest attendance

Cody Johnson performed on RODEOHOUSTON® Opening Night and garnered the third-highest opening night paid attendance at 70,554.

Johnson’s 2022 RODEOHOUSTON opening night performance, in celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™, placed him in the third spot for the highest opening night paid attendance, joining the likes of George Strait’s 2017 performance and Garth Brooks’ 2018 opener.

ACSO donates to pregnancy center

Feb. 7, by direction of Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes, Dispatch Supervisor David Watson and Operation’s Sgt. Donald Darracq donated 15 pairs of new footwear to the Sealy Pregnancy Resource Center. The footwear was seized by the Sheriff’s Office during the course of a criminal fraud investigation. “We really appreciate what organizations like the Sealy Pregnancy Resource Center do for the Austin County community. The San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site announced the last of The Sealy News’ historical print archives were transported to the University of North Texas where they will be scanned and digitized as part of The Portal to Texas History! This means an almost complete set of The Sealy News will soon be searchable from any internetbased device in the world. Thanks to the Virgil & Josephine Gordon Memorial Library Central Library and the Tocker Foundation for their support of this project.
