The Texas Dance Hall Preservation will host its first in-person event, “Swing into Cat Spring” in nearly two years this Saturday, March 12, at the Cat Spring Agricultural Society Hall. The event will feature Asleep at the Wheel, along with artist Al Dressen.

The Sealy City Council approved naming the new animal control facility after Sealy Police Department’s former Animal Control Officer, the late Gary Kollatschny, during the March 1 regular meeting in the city council chambers at city hall.

Young Texans will get a chance to create the latest design for the official reusable bag for the iconic Don’t mess with Texas campaign. New in 2022, the Don’t mess with Texas Reusable Bag Art Contest is aimed at inspiring younger generations of Texans to keep their home state litter-free.

Feb. 7, by direction of Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes, Dispatch Supervisor David Watson and Operation’s Sgt. Donald Darracq donated 15 pairs of new footwear to the Sealy Pregnancy Resource Center. The footwear was seized by the Sheriff’s Office during the course of a criminal fraud investigation. “We really appreciate what organizations like the Sealy Pregnancy Resource Center do for the Austin County community. The San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site announced the last of The Sealy News’ historical print archives were transported to the University of North Texas where they will be scanned and digitized as part of The Portal to Texas History! This means an almost complete set of The Sealy News will soon be searchable from any internetbased device in the world.
