HVAC program allows Howell to expand skill set

Almost 20 years after he graduated from East Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering technology, Andrew Howell didn’t expect to find himself back in a classroom. However, when he had the opportunity to add HVAC skills to his role as the hydraulic systems designer at Dynacon in Bryan, Howell was excited to expand his knowledge base.

Five Blinn College District faculty and staff recognized

Five Blinn College District faculty and staff members have received 2023 National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Awards for their dedication to Blinn students. Manager of Enrollment Services and International Programs Rachel Landolt; Learning Center Assistant Maria Raducanu; Perkins Program Facilitator Jennifer Schafer; eLearning Systems Administrator Mathew Walpert; and Theatre Professor Greg Wise will receive commemorative pewter medallions from NISOD to mark their achievements.

Festival brings big time fun to Columbus

Excitement is brewing in Columbus as the Chamber of Commerce finalizes preparations for the 2023 Magnolia Days Festival presented by Todd and Morgan Barten. Visitors are invited to the Courthouse Square on Friday and Saturday, May 19 and 20, to enjoy two fun-filled days of festival activities, including a Family Fun Zone with activities for both the young and “young at heart” featuring a petting zoo, pony rides, inflatables, trackless train rides, and carnival games.

Finus Tyler marked another trip around the sun with family and friends at Meals on Wheels, a nonprofit program and center he had a hand in establishing years ago. The Sealy News covered Tyler back two years ago commemorating his 100th birthday via a driveby parade.
