Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes announced May 14 Johnathan Baraks was promoted from deputy to Sergeant. “For 13 years, Johnny has been committed to keeping the citizens of Austin County safe and promotes a positive attitude and image within the sheriff’s office,” Brandes said.

Blinn program honors 10 new graduates

Ten students were recently honored with a pinning ceremony after graduating from the Blinn College District Veterinary Technology Program. HIDTA securing county

On Wednesday May 17 the Westside Narcotics Task Force (HIDTA) conducted a narcotics operation that resulted in the arrest of two subjects and the seizure of drugs and a weapon. The arrests are a result of Task Force Officers investigating a drug trafficking organization operating within the Austin County / Waller County area.

City council denies requests

The Sealy City Council deliberated Tuesday night over a handful of several different topics, including the denial of three separate agenda item requests regarding the Titus Carwash Variance. Titus Carwash were seeking approval to set the entrance of their future property back near Highway 36, as well as moving their designated pole sign and the signage on the side of the building.
