During the month of May, the Austin County Child Fatality Team, which consists of representatives from Texas A&M AgriLife (The Family and Consumer Sciences Advisory Board) and the Department of State Health Services, hosted a passenger safety event at the local elementary school in Bellville.

It’s incredible to think how one decision can ultimately shape the rest of your life. Picking up the trumpet as a sixth grader was that one decision for Wyatt Martinez.

After years of operation, the Irene LeBlanc Pool at Jacquelyn Cryan Park in Sealy has been closed indefinitely by city officials. “Last year alone the pool lost more than $130,000 and that’s not counting the maintenance and supplies that were used to keep the pool up and running,” said Sealy Mayor Carolyn Bilski.

American Legion Hall hosts Memorial Day event Veterans and citizens of Sealy held Memorial Day festivities at the American Legion Hall last Monday, commemorating the lives of fallen troops around the country and community. An introductory flag ceremony was held outside to kick off the program, followed by a gun salute and Taps performance by trumpet players Wyatt Martinez and Ahbab Pinon.
