Back in mid-March, Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes issued a brief statement concerning the death of an inmate in the county jail. “We had a death in our jail March 11.

During a budget workshop last week, the Wallis City Council looked at its upcoming budget to see if they had money to hire another patrol officer for the night shift. Presently, Wallis Police only had a single officer covering the entire town during that time.
