Friend to Friend program sponsors mammograms

On Sept. 27th, 27 participants from Austin County received their free mammogram from “The Rose” due to the Friend-to-Friend program conducted in August. Friend to Friend was sponsored by the Austin County Family and Consumer Sciences Advisory Board and adapted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service as a best-practice program to encourage women to be screened on a yearly basis. The event was co-hosted with the assistance of the Texas Department of State Health Services. The efforts continue to support the premise and importance of early detection which we know will ultimately make a difference that will save lives. Blinn Board of Trustees decreases 2023 tax rate, will receive an increase in state appropriations

The Blinn College District Board of Trustees decreased its tax rate and received a preliminary report regarding an increase in state funding due to House Bill 8 during its regular meeting today. Trustees set the rate at $0.0363 per $100 valuation, a decrease from the 2022 tax rate of $0.0377 per $100 valuation.
