For the first time in program history, the Sealy Lady Tiger soccer team finished the regular season as district champions after a 1-0 win over Royal last Friday night at home. Sealy freshman Elizabeth Reichardt’s goal with only 5:24 left in regulation was the difference-maker in the contest that featured wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour.

teams split with Navasota T Sealy Tiger soccer last Friday night at T.J. Mills Stadium where the Tigers lost their first contest within District 20-4A, 4-3, but the Lady Tigers won 1-0 on Elizabeth Reichardt’s penalty kick with 13 minutes left in regulation.

Sam Houston senior Clayton Fritsch not only claimed the Western Athletic Conference pole vault championship last weekend in New Mexico but he also set the conference’s all-time indoor record and the meet record with a final clearance of 18’ 9.5” (5.73m).

The Sealy Tiger tennis squad hosted a quad match with East Bernard, Rice and Columbus last Wednesday at Sealy Junior High. The Tigers have three regular-season matches remaining before the district championship.

Sealy’s Connor Krenek (utility) and Thomas Clark (linebacker) were honorable mentions on the Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 4A All-State team released Friday morning.

Krenek was District 12-4A’s utility player of the year and Clark was a first-team all-district wide receiver and linebacker for the Tigers. Krenek represented Sealy on the THSCA first-team academic all-state and Thomas Clark landed on the second-team academic all-state.

Sealy senior Evelyn Harrington led a Lady Tiger comeback with 11 fourth-quarter points to help her team take down rival Bellville 43-39 in its final home game last Friday. It was merely the cherry on top after Sealy punched its ticket back to the postseason for the first time since the 2017-2018 season with a 36-23 win over El Campo last Tuesday.

The University Interscholastic League announced its biennial district realignment for football, volleyball and basketball Thursday morning, Feb. 3.

The Sealy Lady Tiger softball team opened its scrimmage season last Tuesday at home against Caldwell. Although she noticed some rust on her players, Head Coach Brittney Whitehead said the Lady Tigers learned plenty from the scrimmage.
