With a 5-0 win over Smithville in last Friday’s Bi-District Championship at Columbus Memorial Stadium, the Sealy Lady Tigers collected their first playoff win since 2016 and shattered another one of the team’s preseason goals.

The Sealy Tiger soccer team staked claim to its home turf and earned its third straight playoff win on Mark A. Chapman Field at T.J. Mills Stadium last Friday over Caldwell 5-0 in the Bi-District Championship.

Sealy High School’s lone representative at the Texas High School Powerlifting Association’s Division 2 State Championship, Jeremiah Metzgar Jr., recorded personal-record lifts and finished seventh in the 148-pound weight class.

The Sealy Lady Tiger softball team notched its first win, 16-0 in three innings, within District 24-4A last Friday on the road in Brookshire over the Royal Lady Falcons. The visitors nearly batted around twice in the first inning and finished with 12 runs on the board before freshman Haylie Eder stepped into the pitcher’s circle for a 1-2-3 inning.

The Sealy Tiger baseball team opened District 24-4A play last week and earned the victory in both contests, 5-3 over El Campo Tuesday and 13-2 over Royal Friday. Despite the wins, Head Coach Trey Marik acknowledged there are still things the squad needs to work on.

The Sealy Tiger baseball team embarks upon its district stretch of games this week with road trips to El Campo and Brookshire on the docket. Sealy finished non-district play with an 11-4 record after it split last week with a 2-0 home loss to Giddings and a 9-0 road win over La Grange.

A trio of Sealy Lady Tiger powerlifters competed at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association’s Class 4A Small School State Championship meet last Friday, March 18, in Corpus Christi.

The Sealy Lady Tigers opened district play over spring break and dropped their first two District 24-4A contests last Monday at home and Tuesday on the road. Sealy’s first district game was a back-and-forth battle but the Navasota Lady Rattlers eventually emerged victorious 10-9.

Austin County will be well represented in the UIL Region 3-4 Playoffs on the soccer pitch at the end of this week with both men’s and women’s teams qualifying from Sealy and Bellville. In the Bi-District Championship, the District 20-4A Champion Lady Tigers draw the Rockdale Tigers this Friday in Columbus with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
