Sealy hosts Mini Cheer Camp

Sealy Independent School District has been working hard to replace the nine-yearold turf at TJ Mills Stadium before the start of the next football season. The change is coming because the current turf has reached its lifespan, and Sealy ISD wants to ensure safety on their field because so many kids use it.

One participant that continued to impress while at the state meet was freshman Ryanne Meyers. “ Our fresh-man did exceptionally well finishing in fourth place. That was a big accomplishment for her and hopefully we can get her in other events next year,” Sealy track and field coach Ray Dabney said. Meyers also faced a challenge at the regional meet in which she had to clear a height to make herself eligible for the state berth. “ She had already missed it twice, but she came through with an excellent jump, and she ended up with two personal records that day and had to have a jump off for the third space spot,” Dabney continued. “ That was a big accomplishment for her.”

Sealy’s promising softball season came to a crashing halt Friday, May 8 when Bullard swept the Lady Tigers from the Class 4A playoffs. Bullard took the first game 8-5 and then returned on Friday to take the series with a 6-5 decision.

The Sealy varsity boys basketball team had a mixed performance last week, splitting its district games with a 1-1 record. On Tuesday, they showcased their dominance by defeating Katy HSI 78-10. However, on Friday, Feb. 13, the topranked Almita Crawford team came to Sealy and emerged victorious, defeating the Tigers 72-52.

The Sealy Lady Tigers soccer team is off to a hot start as they have played 17 games so far this season. Of those 17 games, the Lady Tigers have won 15 of them eight of which are in district play.

The Houston Food Bank has bestowed an honor on the Sealy Christian Pantry as being the pantry of the year for excellence in going above and beyond in connecting, engaging, and impacting its neighbors.

The Sealy Lady Tigers basketball team picked up an important win over Stafford this past week to keep them in the playoff race. The Lady Tigers defeated Stafford 55-46 to pick up their sixth district win on the year to keep them one game back of a playoff spot.
