BNSF donates to ACESD

Thursday, Oct. 21, Austin County Emergency Services District No. 2 in Sealy received a $10,000 grant from BNSF Railway Foundation as a Contribution towards the Critical Radio Infrastructure Program to purchase radios. Sealy News moves offices

The contracts have been signed, the keys were transferred and The Sealy News has officially moved into its new office at 327 Fowlkes Street in downtown Sealy after 25 years on Schmidt Road. The paper will continue printing Thursday papers every week and readers can still call the same number (979-885-3562) or reach out to the existing emails to contact News representatives.

A worthy cause

The seventh annual Bras 4 a Cause event at Saddleback Saloon Oct. 23 raised the second-highest total amount of donations for breast cancer awareness as a star-studded lineup modeled bras that were auctioned off. Once the dust settled, more than $11,000 was raised to be donated to the Memorial Hermann-Katy Breast Cancer Center.

After the event was made a drivethru celebration amidst the pandemic last year, Boo Bash on Main returns to its former glory and will take over downtown Sealy Sunday, Oct. 31, from 5-8 p.m. as trick-ortreaters play games, get trolly rides and, of course, get lots of candy.

Livestock judging team wins honors at Texas State Fair

Members of the Blinn College District livestock judging team recently placed at the Tulsa State Fair and won individual honors at the State Fair of Texas. Sealy High School alumnus Avery Oliver earned sixth in swine judging in Tulsa as well as took home third in reasons and fifth in sheep and goats from the State Fair of Texas.
