Thursday, Oct. 21, Austin County Emergency Services District No. 2 in Sealy received a $10,000 grant from BNSF Railway Foundation as a Contribution towards the Critical Radio Infrastructure Program to purchase radios. The seventh annual Bras 4 a Cause event at Saddleback Saloon Oct. 23 raised the second-highest total amount of donations for breast cancer awareness as a star-studded lineup modeled bras that were auctioned off. Once the dust settled, more than $11,000 was raised to be donated to the Memorial Hermann-Katy Breast Cancer Center.

The Sealy City Council approved a partial final replat for Section 1 of Dove Landing and tabled a variance affecting 50 lots at the regular meeting last Tuesday, Oct. 19, in the W. E. Hill Community Center.

During a public hearing that preceded the regular meeting of the Sealy ISD Board of Trustees last Wednesday, Oct. 20, CFO Lisa Svoboda reported the district received a superior rating of 96 out of 100 in the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas for the 2019-2020 school year.

The time has arrived for models to show off locally decorated bras and raise money for breast cancer awareness at the annual Bras 4 a Cause event this Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at Saddleback Saloon.

Members of the Blinn College District livestock judging team recently placed at the Tulsa State Fair and won individual honors at the State Fair of Texas. Sealy High School alumnus Avery Oliver earned sixth in swine judging in Tulsa as well as took home third in reasons and fifth in sheep and goats from the State Fair of Texas.
