Family Land and Heritage Program, March 9 Each year the Texas Department of Agriculture honors farm and ranch owners who owned these properties for 100, 150+ years. An application is required that covers agricultural production rules. A workshop is planned for March 9 at 10 a.m. at the courthouse in Bellville. Grace Holtkamp will conduct this workshop. CONTRIBUTED REPORT Texas Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Texas Commissioner of Education Mike Morath and appointed Kendall Baker to the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) for terms set to expire on June 30, 2026 and June 30, 2023, respectively. The Southern Regional Education Board works with states to improve public education at every level, from early childhood through doctoral education.

In recent weeks, Gov. Greg Abbott with Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick at his side, traveled across the state, promoting legislation for the Texas Parental Empowerment Program. The governors praise and promising outlook for Senate Bill 176 and its potential to bestow state supported permission and consent, to parents, for the right to decide about children’s education, health services and personal data collection.
