Sealy’s Ponce making strides in culinary industry

Mariana Ponce has come a long way since she was featured in The Sealy News two years ago. And now, she is on a new baking challenge in her life.

Ponce graduated from Sealy High School in 2021 and was awarded scholarships to attend the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary School in Austin. Ponce graduated on the President’s List and now is managing the sweet shop at Prasek’s in Sealy.

Quilt Guild donates to SFD

The Sealy Cotton Bolt Quilt Guild donated six quilts to the Sealy Fire Department. The quilt tops were pieced by the late Grace Holtcamp and quilting and finished by members of the Guild. Texas Veterans Commission is accepting applications from veteran-serving organizations for grant funding

The application period is open for the Texas Veterans Commission’s Fund for Veterans’ Assistance grant program. An estimated total of $30 million in grant funding is available. These grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations and local government agencies that provide direct services to veterans. Applications for these grants will be accepted until Dec. 4, at 5 p.m.
