Blinn Board of Trustees decreases 2023 tax rate, will receive an increase in state appropriations

The Blinn College District Board of Trustees decreased its tax rate and received a preliminary report regarding an increase in state funding due to House Bill 8 during its regular meeting today. Trustees set the rate at $0.0363 per $100 valuation, a decrease from the 2022 tax rate of $0.0377 per $100 valuation.

While there are many unsung heroes that work behind the scenes at the annual Bras for a Cause event, bra donations from area businesses allows the event to thrive for the community. Karen Lopez, who has been with the event all nine of its years, said the support of area businesses and the community has been one reason the event is able to make an impact with its donation to the Memorial Herman Breast Care Cancer Center in Katy.
