In an effort to keep more of the money raised during the Bras for a Cause event held in October local, a check for $20,000 was donated to the Blessing Box group in Austin County. Dawn Compton, organizer and founder of The Blessing Box, sends out boxes to breast cancer patients with gifts and words of encouragement to aid them in their battle with cancer.

The Fantasy of Lights parade and event was held last Saturday in Sealy. Young dance groups entertained the crowds during the day and the lighted parade closed out the ceremonies.

It’s that time of year Sealytonians. The annual Fantasy of Lights event is set to kick off Nov. 30.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott celebrated new graduates joining the most elite law enforcement agency in the nation at the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Recruit Class B-2023 Graduation Ceremony in Austin. During his keynote address, the Governor congratulated the 94 graduate troopers on completing a rigorous 30-week training program and thanked them for answering the call to serve and protect their fellow Texans.

The holiday season has officially started as many Texans gather around the table for Thanksgiving dinner. But for the families of the 1,246 people killed last year in Texas by drunk drivers, holiday seasons will never be the same.
