For the second year in a row and the ninth year overall, the Austin County community showed up during the annual Bras for a Cause event and surpassed last year’s record-breaking totals. Early numbers show the event raised more than $22,000 to help support research to eradicate breast cancer, surpassing last year’s figures.

Brazos FFA shines at ACF shows

The Brazos FFA program wrapped up the Austin County Fair Show with the cattle and swine shows. Brazos FFA had five exhibitors show pen heifers highlighted by Saley Speckmaier placing 10th and Colton Warr placing 11th. Brazos was represented well in the hog ring with four exhibitors and had a great night with Sophia Vykukal being named Class Champion and Jackson Vykukal named Reserve Senior Showman. The program wrapped up the livestock shows with Halter Heifer and Scramble Heifer show where Maggie Richardson had a fourth place in class and Reid Warr was second in his class.

Boo Bash set to take over Main Street Tuesday

The annual Boo Bash Halloween Festival will be touching down in downtown Sealy on Main Street Tuesday, Oct.31, from 5 - 8 p.m. This will be the 16th annual Boo Bash hosted by The Sealy News and co-hosted by the Sealy Area Chamber and will feature tractor rides, barrel train rides, bounce houses, one or two haunted houses and food trucks.
