The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center (TCHCC) in La Grange invites all to a family Sunday Funday filled with music, food, laughter, Czech culture and remembrance during the 23rd Annual Slavnost ‘May Fest’ May 19. Festivities begin with a recognition ceremony at 10:30 a.m. The Czech Immigrants to Texas will be honored and the stones on the Immigrant Wall will be recognized.

An Austin County jury delivered the maximum sentences to a Sealy man who was accused of being a serial domestic abuser during the trial last week. Richard Gatlin, 30, of Sealy, was given the maximum sentences during the four-day trial in District Judge Jeff Steinhauser’s court.

The Beef & Forage Committee of Austin County is encouraging beef cattle producers to turn in a sample of their hay for analysis at this year’s Austin County Hay Show. In the coming months, hay samples will be accepted at different locations throughout Austin County.
