Hay samples need for annual analysis show

All beef cattle and hay producers are encouraged to turn in a sample of their hay for analysis at this year’s Austin County Hay Show scheduled for October 4th. Hay sample collection boxes and forms will be available at the following drop-off locations: Bellville Farm & Ranch, Linseisen’s Feed & Supply Inc, and Austin County Extension Office, all in Bellville; Steinhauser’s in Sealy; Bernardo Farm&RanchinCatSpring;4M Feed & Ranch in New Ulm; Lindemann Store in Industry.

Proposed fed rule would protect workers from extreme heat

A year after a new state law ended mandatory water breaks in Texas, a proposed federal rule would protect millions of workers from the risks caused by extreme heat, The Texas Tribune reported. Therulewouldrequireemployers to create plans to prevent heat injuries and illnesses and ensure workers get access to drinking water, rest breaks and control of indoor heat. It would apply to all employers whose businesses are under the jurisdiction of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
