Sample deadline for hay show Oct. 4 All beef cattle and hay producers are encouraged to turn in a sample of their hay for analysis at this year’s Austin County Hay Show scheduled for Oct. 4. Hay sample collection boxes and forms are available until Aug. 31 at the following drop-off locations: Bellville Farm & Ranch, Linseisen’s Feed & Supply Inc, and Austin County Extension Office, all in Bellville; Steinhauser’s in Sealy; Bernardo Farm & Ranch in Cat Spring; 4M Feed & Ranch in New Ulm; Lindemann Store in Industry. For more information on submitting a forage sample for analysis, or on supplementation of beef cattle, contact the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Austin County at (979) 865-2072 and speak with the Agriculture & Natural Resources Agent Stacie Villarreal.

Knights pull off big win in Lake Jackson

The Eagles of Brazosport were favored in the contest by 7. The Knights would end up prevailing in double overtime 56-48. 

Senior Travis Woodley would lead the Knights on both sides of the ball. He had four TDs, three rushing and one receiving. He also had 16 tackles. One of the top plays of the young season for the Knights came from Junior Joshua Stark on the kickoff to open the 2nd half.

Four officers graduate from FBI National Academy

Four officers from the Houston area were among the 254 law enforcement professionals who graduated from the 291st session of the FBI’s National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. This National Academy class consisted of men and women from 47 American states, 7 military organizations, 7 federal civilian organizations, and 26 nations around the world.
