CHAMP joins forces with Peters Hall

In conjunction with our ongoing efforts to continue raising funds to assist other non-profit charities and various youth organizations, C.H.A.M.P. is very pleased to announce the affiliation with the Peters Hacienda Community Hall, more commonly referred to as “Peters Hall.” Peters Hall, located approximately six miles north of Sealy on Trenckmann Road, has a long and rich history in Austin County. It was originally built for the Peters-Hacienda Schuetzenverein, a traditional German Shooting Club, organized in 1897. Dancing soon became the building’s main activity, and the first structure was a dance platform built on the Hoff Family Pasture in 1898.

Chase results in arrest

A police chase that started in Austin County and ended in Colorado County resulted in the arrest of a suspect on numerous charges Derrick Wheaton, 45, was arrested and charged with abandon/ endanger child imminent danger, evading arrest/ detention with vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, reckless driving and tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair. Wheaton was also arrested on four active felony warrants out of Bexar County.

The Big Tex Backyard Ultra, held Nov. 2, at the beautiful Stephen F. Austin State Park, marked an exciting milestone as the first time Trail Racing Over Texas (TROT) has hosted a Backyard Ultra at a Texas State Park. The event brought runners from across Texas together for a challenging and exhilarating Last Man Standing (LMS) race. Hosted by TROT, the event was a major success, showcasing both the endurance of the runners and the beauty of the park.
