Shelby Cones leads Blinn with third place finish Blinn College’s Shelby Cones placed third overall in the sophomore division at the Southern Stockman Livestock Judging Contest in Lubbock, Texas. Cones, from Stagecoach, Texas, was the top finisher for a Blinn livestock judging team that had four of the top 10 individuals at the contest held Saturday at Texas Tech University.

Breast Cancer Awareness in Austin County

During October, the Austin County Commissioner’s Court issued a proclamation recognizing National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To further promote awareness, the Austin County Family and Consumer Sciences Advisory Board recently held its annual breast cancer awareness event entitled “Friend to Friend,” which highlights the importance of mammograms as a vital screening tool for early detection of breast cancer among women.
