On Oct. 21-22, the Sealy Cross Country team qualified for state placing fourth in the Region III 2A-6A UIL Qualifiers. Gavin Almaguer led the cross-country team with a sixteen minute and thirteen second time placement.

It’s October, the fall breeze is starting to kick in, the pumpkins are starting to get laid out for decoration, and a whole community is geared up for another fall festival with the signature costume contest.

Quick work by the Austin County Sheriff’s office and the Sealy Police Department thwarted the attempted theft of two high-value trucks believed to be stolen from Hennessey Motors in Sealy. Authorities arrested Romey Garcia- Guzman and Oleviys Perez-Cordero, and both were booked in the Austin County Jail on auto theft charges.

On a bright and radiant Thursday morning, communities surrounding Brazos, Sealy, and Columbus all gathered together to congregate at the Austin County Fair. The carnival included many rides such as the Ferris wheel, teacups, and the famous hard rock drop ride, which made one kid sick.

A ustin Count y resi dents turned out for the Austin County Fair Auction Saturday with bids totaling $2,075,583 for the Youth Auction Sale. This kind of support shows that the county firmly stands behind their FFA students and their projects and gave them a much-needed pat on the back for their hard work.

Early voting for the Nov. 5 general election begins Monday, Oct. 21 and ends on Nov. 1. Texas voters will be choosing from a full slate of candidates, from president to U.S. senator to various county positions.
