Master Gardeners hosting Lunch-N-Learn series

The Bluebonnet Master Gardeners of Austin County will present the 2024 “Lunch-N-Learn” series which will be hosted on the third Tuesday of each month from January through May. Overall, the series will feature topics related to horticulture with homeowners and backyard gardeners in mind.
Vegetable conference set for Feb. 23

The Horticulture Committee of Austin County, in partnership with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Austin County, will be hosting a Small Farms & Vegetable Conference with 5 CEUs on Friday, Feb. 23, at the American Legion Post no. 442 located at 1630 Meyer St., Sealy.
Brazos BUDS host Christmas Wreath Class

The Brazos B.U.D.S. Christmas Wreath Class was a success. This was our first community class, and the group appreciates everyone who came out and supported the event. Thank you also to those advanced floral students that helped guide and support the class.
ACSO welcomes Masson as new deputy

The Austin County Sheriff’s Office would like to welcome Sacha Masson as deputy. With more than 20 years of service with Austin County EMS, Masson’s career path changed, graduating from the TEEX Police Academy and accepting a position with the ACSO agency.

Pair shine at All-Region auditions

In December, Brazos High School band students Megan McFarland and Chloe Flores placed high enough at the All-Region Band auditions that they advanced to the Area Auditions last week at Alice High School. While neither advanced to the All-State Band, both Megan and Chloe placed in the top 10 in class 1A-3A.
