When Sealy took on Columbus last year in a scrimmage contest, Sealy Head Football Coach Clint Finley saw his team get handled by the Cardinal during the scrimmage. This year, Finley saw different results.

The scrimmages are now over and it’s time for some Friday night football. Sealy will take to T.J.

The following are the results from the 2024 Brazos High School Cross Country Invitational. The Sealy girls’ team finished with a second-place finish behind East Bernard while the Sealy boy's cross-country team also claimed a second- place finish behind East Bernard.

With the first Brazos scrimmage under his belt, Brazos Head Football Coach Audie Jackson believes his team is headed in the right direction in preparation for the season ahead. “I think the kids are excited about the new year,” Jackson said.

Finley sees growth in program this year Coming into the first football scrimmage of the 2024 season, Sealy Head Football Coach Clint Finley was looking to see his squad play with a stronger determination than what was displayed in the early going last year. Challenge accepted.

The Sealy volleyball squad kicked off its season by participating in the Columbus volleyball tournament last week. Sealy played against some tough opponents and looked strong during the tourney play. Sealy took on East Bernard Tuesday night, but the results were not available at press time. Sealy will participate in the Bay City Tournament Thursday and Saturday.

JIMMY.GALVAN@SEALYNEWS.COM Sealy Head Volleyball Coach Caroline Owen said her squads are “off to a great start” after playing Boling and Needville in a pair of scrimmages last weekend. “All three teams did really well! It was for sure a great two days and we are off to a great start,” Owen said.

Don’t look now, but high school football is back and in action. Austin County football squads hit the fields Monday in preparation for the 2024 season ahead.
