The Sealy Tiger basketball team was scheduled to play its non-district finale earlier this week Tuesday at home against Burton before El Campo makes the trip to town Friday to open play within District 24-4A.

Soccer kicks off season

The Sealy Tiger soccer team started the regular season on an 0-2-1 clip at the Giddings Tournament last weekend. Sealy tied La Grange 1-1 last Thursday then fell to Giddings (1-0) and Bastrop (2-0) Friday to close the first regular-season action.

Lady Tigers win two on the pitch

Although weather delays eventually canceled the Silver Bracket Championship game, the Sealy Lady Tiger soccer team emerged from the Waller Classic Tournament with two wins, one loss and plenty more cohesiveness as a unit after the weekend.

Knights fall

The Faith Academy Knight basketball squad fell in both its games last week, 69-34 against Central Christian Thursday and 56-32 against Covenant Academy Friday. Last Thursday, Faith Academy started slow and could not keep up with the Cougars who increased their point total each quarter.

A tale of two nights describes the Faith Academy Lady Knights’ basketball fortunes last week. Last Thursday night brought the Lady Knights their fifth and very convincing win 49-32 over Central Christian.

Sealy powerlifters open in Bay City

The Sealy powerlifting teams opened the regular season in Bay City over the weekend and both earned sixth place in the team competition. The Tigers came in sixth out of 11 teams behind one class champion, one runner-up and two thirdplace finishers.

LADY TIGERS TAKE SECOND

The Sealy Lady Tiger basketball team competed in the Weimar tournament to close its winter break action Dec. 28-30, 2021 and came away with a second-place finish where seniors Evelyn Harrington and Julia Jurecka were named to the all-tournament team.

Sealy cagers split tournament

The Sealy Tiger basketball team split its tournament action in Schulenburg last week then met with the Shorthorns at home for a non-district game Dec. 30, 2021, and earned a 67-57 win to move to 9-8 overall with two non-district contests remaining.
