Sealy, Bellville add one team in UIL realignment

The University Interscholastic League announced its biennial district realignment for football, volleyball and basketball Thursday morning, Feb. 3.

Sealy and Bellville’s football district remained the same with the addition of West Columbia and the volleyball and basketball districts also remained intact with the addition of Needville. Both were opponents of Sealy’s two alignments ago.

After a three-goal lead was nearly squandered last Friday, Sealy junior Amador Lopez scored his hat-trick goal on a penalty kick and classmate William Forrester provided a header goal off a throw-in from fellow junior Tanner Ellis to seal a 5-3 victory over Harmony School of Discovery for the Tigers’ third District 20-4A win in a row.

Lady Tiger soccer prevails

The Sealy Lady Tiger soccer team secured its third win in a row to open play within District 20-4A with a 6-0 win over Discovery last Friday but Monday’s contest with Columbus was not as lopsided. Through the rain and cold Monday night, the Lady Tigers and Cardinals played to a scoreless draw at the end of regulation which sent the game to penalty kicks.

Golf team wins

The Sealy golf teams opened their season last Wednesday at the Navasota Invitational Tournament and the Tigers’ top team came away with first place in the team competition behind Ethan Doyle’s individual championship.

Tennis starts season

Body
The Sealy Tiger tennis team opened its season last Friday at the Brazosport Tournament and came back with a silver medal from the A Boys’ Doubles bracket and a gold medal from the B Boys’ Doubles circuit in addition to a pair of fourth-place individual finishes.

Faith Knights fall in two

Body
The Faith Academy Knight basketball team fell in both of its contests last week, 55-44 to Conroe Lifestyle last Tuesday and 77-46 to Conroe Calvary last Friday. Faith Academy senior Nathan Figueroa led the team with 17 points and eight rebounds and junior Jonah Taake was not far behind with 12 points and four rebounds.
